The language situation in the Waldorf school Luxembourg The Waldorf school population is as international as the population of Luxembourg. The curriculum reflects this multilingualism. The Luxembourg language is used in preschool and Kindergarten. Education at the primary level is mainly in German - which is typical for the Luxembourg school system - but French and English are introduced from the 1st class. French is used as much as possible as the language of instruction in craftsmanship and arts and in the subjects that have to do with movement (sports and eurythmics). In secondary school, the language of instruction progressively changes from German to French. The IB preparatory year and the the IB itself is given entirely in French, but German and English are language options. Administrative communication mostly takes place in German and French, with some things in English as well. |
