Religion and outlook on the world
The Waldorf school is of the opinion that religious education is important for the ethical forming of the child. It therefore offers each recognised religious community the possibility of organising a religion class within the school schedule and according to the way it is done in Luxembourg. Those children not registered in religion class are offered a course whose content is inspired by the observation of what is happening in nature throughout the year as well as the fundamental christian and humanistic concepts (Jahreszeitenunterricht).
Since the teachers are looking to Rudolf Steiner's « philosophy of freedom », they take care not to impose any ideological, philosophical or religious view points on the children in their care. However, every teacher does his best to open the children in his class to a « vision » of the world in the truest sense of the word (vision = the ability to SEE something) by encouraging them to develop an interest in all phenomena, to form their capacities of perception and to try and know the world without any « a priori » (pre-formed opinion). |
