Form teachers and "subject" teachers (specialised teachers)

The form teachers stay with the same class for the first 6 or sometimes 8 years of school. Every school morning, they have the class for two 90 minute periods during which subjects such as Calculus, German, Drawing, History, Biology and Geography are taught.

Through this long and intense co-operation with the children, the teachers acquire a profound knowledge of each child's personality, which is essential for their pedagogical work.

The remaining subjects, such as French, English, Sports, Crafts and Music, are taught by "subject teachers" who also stay with the children for a number of years.
